چکیده

In this article, we present the first method to generate plausible sounds while animating crumpling virtual paper in real time. Our method handles shape-dependent friction and crumpling sounds which typically occur when manipulating or creasing paper by hand. Based on a run-time geometric analysis of the deforming surface, we identify resonating regions characterizing the sound being produced. Coupled to a fast analysis of the surrounding elements, the sound can be efficiently spatialized to take into account nearby wall or table reflectors. Finally, the sound is synthesized in real time using a pre-recorded database of frequencyand time-domain sound sources. Our synthesized sounds are evaluated by comparing them to recordings for a specific set of paper deformations.

Level-of-Detail Modal Analysis for Real-time Sound Synthesis

Modal sound synthesis is a promising approach for real-time physically-based sound synthesis. A modal analysis is used to compute characteristic vibration modes from the geometry and material properties of scene objects. These modes allow an efficient sound synthesis at run-time, but the analysis is computationally expensive and thus typically computed in a pre-processing step. In interactive a...

Effects of Geometric Nonlinearity on Stress Analysis in Large Amplitude Vibration of Moderately Thick Annular Functionally Graded Plate

This paper deals with the nonlinear free vibration of thick annular functionally graded material plates. The thickness is assumed to be constant. Material properties are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The formulations are based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory and...

Free Natural Frequency Analysis of an FG Composite Rectangular Plate Coupled with Fluid using Rayleigh–Ritz Method

This study investigates natural frequency analysis of an FG composite rectangular plate partially contacting with a bounded fluid. The material properties are assumed to be varying continuously through the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of volume fraction of material constituents. Wet dynamic transverse displacements of the plate are approximated by a ...

WORLD: A Vocoder-Based High-Quality Speech Synthesis System for Real-Time Applications

A vocoder-based speech synthesis system, named WORLD, was developed in an effort to improve the sound quality of realtime applications using speech. Speech analysis, manipulation, and synthesis on the basis of vocoders are used in various kinds of speech research. Although several high-quality speech synthesis systems have been developed, real-time processing has been difficult with them becaus...

Towards High-Quality Sound Synthesis of the Guitar and String Instruments

The sound quality of real-time synthesis based on physical models has so far been inferior to sampling techniques. In this paper we introduce new principles to make model-based sound synthesis of the guitar and other plucked string instruments more attractive from the viewpoint of sound quality. A major improvement is achieved by estimating the model parameters and the excitation signal from th...
